Thomaston restoration 24'

The vintage spring bounce toy I had the privilege of restoring is a remarkable piece of playground history, featuring six different animals. These toys were originally manufactured by Recreation Creations, Inc. of Hillsdale, MI, USA, a company founded in 1974 and previously known as Quality Industries. While I was able to locate single and even three- and four-animal spring bouncers, I could not find anything quite as extensive as the Thomaston six-animal version. I dedicated seven hours to researching this unique playground equipment, diving deep into historical records and catalogs.

I am thrilled to have been the artist selected to restore this beloved piece, which has brought joy to countless childhoods and will continue to delight future generations. You can watch the full four-minute video documenting the restoration process here: YouTube Video.

Restoring this piece of Thomaston’s playground history has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am filled with pride knowing it will be enjoyed by many more children in the years to come. Thomaston Pride!

Harwinton Fair Sign

Restoration 23'

In 2023, I had the honor of restoring the iconic Harwinton Fair sign, a  symbol of the local fair. The restoration project involved repair work to bring the sign back to its former glory, preserving its historical significance for future generations. This undertaking included repairing weathered components, refreshing the faded paint, and ensuring that every detail was true to the original design. By dedicating time and effort to this project, I aimed to not only restore its physical appearance but also to renew its connection to the traditions and memories of the fair.

Inspiring the Next Generation

of Artists 24'

Inspiring the next generation of artists involves igniting a spark of creativity and self-belief that empowers them to pursue their passions with confidence. It’s about showing young artists that their unique perspectives and experiences are valuable and that their voices deserve to be heard. By sharing my own journey and the challenges I've overcome throughout my school years and adult years, I help them see that obstacles are not barriers but stepping stones toward their goals. Encouraging them to experiment, embrace their individuality, and persist in the face of adversity can enable them to make their mark in the art world. I had the honor of presenting an art career workshop to a group of talented high school students with learning disabilities at Ben Bronz Academy in West Hartford, Connecticut. Their enthusiasm was palpable, and their questions about marketing, showcasing their art, and navigating the art world were truly inspiring. As someone who also had an IEP throughout school and faced challenges with reading, writing, and speaking. I felt a connection with these students. The support I received through special education resources played a crucial role in my success, and I am grateful to the incredible staff at Ben Bronz for making this event so impactful and welcoming.

Connecticut K-9 Olympics 23'

The 2023 Connecticut K-9 Olympics games took place on Saturday, September 16th, 2023. For the first time, an outside artist was invited to design the official event shirts, and I am honored to have been selected for this role.

The badge design is deeply meaningful, dedicated to Captain Josh Trifone of the CT Department of Correction. Captain Trifone, who has worked alongside Officer Rhodes to continually improve the K-9 Olympics, will be leading the event for the final time this year.

The badge features a small silhouette of Captain Trifone and K9 Tango, celebrating their victories in the 2017 and 2019 K-9 Olympics before Captain Trifone focused on organizing the event. The number 31 reflects the years the K-9 Olympics have been celebrated.

Additionally, I had 25 commemorative mugs engraved, with all proceeds from their sale donated back to support the K-9 Olympics.

Project Unsheltered Art 24'

Proud sponsor to Brian Gibbons Homeless Outreach Project Unsheltered Art, which was EST. spring 2024

Since spring with the help of donations of supplies I have collected and donated about $1,000 worth of gently used or or new art supplies to those who want to explore and express themselves though art.

As many of you know my background is social work with those with traumatic brain injuries and creating art base programs . I am no stranger to how art can be used as an outlook of hope.

Many of these supplies have been giving out to those who want to explore art. PROJECT UNSHELTERED ART is a unique showcase of artwork created by the unsheltered population of Greater Waterbury.

Their first art show event offers a powerful glimpse into their lives, stories, and talents, all expressed through the medium of art which was held at the Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main Street, Waterbury on November 9, 2024
